On the one hand, mostly words (although…), and on the other, mostly visual arts (although…).
Is it a crazy idea to want to bring together theatre and contemporary art? Can a work of art pass from an exhibition space to a theatre in a single movement? If you place an artwork on stage, what does it have to say, and do we have to pay twice? If we take contemporary art to the theatre, does it mean that theatre is not even art and not even contemporary? Is Transquinquennal a Beuys Band? Is Richard Venlet a concrete salesman? Is Dora García a go-between? Who is going to initiate whom? Who is going to give birth to what? Is the baby viable? What do the people want?
Nothing has more meaning than what we cannot understand completely. Nothing is funnier than absolute honesty. Starting out from these two principles, a dialogue between actors will guide the audience through the complex, simple, disconcerting, direct and contradictory ways of thinking in contemporary art. It seems that contemporary artists themselves cannot avoid the perplexity and complexity of their own work …
