Let’s Religion is an invitation to religions in Belgium (whether officially recognized or not) to commission a work of art from us. By addressing a simple and direct question to the representatives of the different religions – ‘What can we, as artists, do for you, free of charge?’ – we wish to activate a process that will highlight the link between art and structured society.

We apply neither a scale of values nor a hierarchy to these religions. We do not pass judgement on their contents. We wish to respond, in all seriousness, to the commission given to us. Our artistic response to the different commissions will not only concentrate on the final visual result, but no less on the treatment and the organization of the reciprocal power relations – by starting out from our initial question (the dispatched letters), via the responses, and arriving at the realization of the commissions and therefore at the elaboration of the different projects, the whole framed in the form of a visual and performative installation combining all these elements.
