Idiomatic › Transquinquennal

Five actors and actresses – a French, a Belgian, a Romanian, a Slovenian, a German – come together to perform a show, all speaking a different language and having nothing in common. In collaboration with Marie Henry, Transquinquennal conceives a device where languages and the verbal communication process are questioned before and with the audience. In this vicious device, they do not warn the actors of everything they have to do, or when, moreover, and add to the confusion a voice recognition machine able to understand what is being said on stage, display the subtitles and launch other commands.

La particularité d’Idiomatic est que cette machine de traduction s’impose sur scène et devient un des personnages, sur lequel repose dans l’intrigue de sérieux espoirs de paix dans le monde grâce à une meilleure compréhension mutuelle. Mais la machine se rebelle et commence à projeter sur l’écran ses propres opinions.
