I’m getting stiff. I quit smoking and I’m now overweight. When I run to catch a bus, I don’t move the way I used to, and I know I look kind of ridiculous. The number of weak spots and trouble spots on my body keeps growing, and soon they are going to make me suffer. I generally work at the table.’
We are all familiar with the actor’s nightmare: imagining that they have to perform a text whose first line they ignore; they try to explain themselves, but the audience is already there in front of them.
Quatre bras is an attempt to speak less (if at all), to renew our practice through a different medium. It is also and especially a way of having a bit of fun: the dream of two dancers who would in fact be actors.
